Children and Morals One day at the end of class, Chris's teacher instructed her students to think of a story, and decide the moral of the story; these stories were to be presented next day in class. The next day, the teacher asks the students to present their stories. Little Suzy raises her hand first: "My dad owns a farm and every Sunday we load the eggs on a truck and drive them to town to sell them. One Sunday, we hit a bump, and all the eggs flew out and splattered on the road." The teacher asks what the moral of the story is, to which Suzy replies, "Don't leave all your eggs in one basket". Next, Mary tells her story. "My dad also owns a farm, and every weekend we take the eggs and put them in the incubator. Last weekend only 8 of the 12 eggs hatched, and the moral of the story is, don't count your eggs before they're hatched." Last is Chris. "My uncle fought in Vietnam, and his
plane was shot down over enemy territory. Before it crashed, he jumped out, with only a
case of beer, a machine gun, and a machete. On the way down, he drank the case of beer.
Unfortunately, he landed in the middle of 100 Vietnamese soldiers. He shot 70 of them with
the machine gun, but ran out of bullets, so he pulled out his machete, and killed 20 more.
The blade on the machete broke, so he killed the last 10 with his bare hands." The
astonished teacher asked Chris if there possibly could be a moral to this story. Chris
replied, "Don't screw around with Uncle Eddie when he's been drinking |
